FACT: Every TV Licensing prosecution relies entirely on a document completed during a visit to an unlicensed property.
We have previously discussed the significance of the TVL178 Record of Interview form and would encourage you to read our earlier comments on it.
By depriving TV Licensing of the opportunity to complete a TVL178 the householder is depriving them of the opportunity of prosecution.
That means the occupiers of unlicensed properties should:
- Always identify any unexpected callers to their property;
- Never engage in casual chit chat with any unidentified person who visits their property or is nearby;
- Immediately close the door and refuse to engage with any person identified as being from TV Licensing.
Remember that TV Licensing goons are not always candid about their identity. Please see our earlier article to hone your TV Licensing goon recognition skills. Any unsolicited visitor who refuses to immediately and unequivocally identify them self should be considered a possible TV Licensing goon.
We are currently dealing with a case where the occupier of an unlicensed property signed a dishonestly/inaccurately completed TVL178, thereby agreeing it was an accurate record of the visit.
They now find them self in a very difficult position if they plead not guilty and take the matter to trial.
Say nothing, sign nothing, never trust the scum at TV Licensing.
