TV Licensing goons are currently visiting the Isle of Man.
The goons, who hail from Northern Ireland, are currently residing at The George Hotel in Castletown. They spend most of their evenings looking glum in the bar, drowning their sorrows and reflecting on their pathetic employment status. If you'd like to show them some legally-licence-free Manx hospitality, they're probably sat there right now.
TV Licensing goons have no more visiting rights than anyone else. Anyone who doesn't legally require a TV licence is under no obligation to assist TV Licensing and we strongly discourage them from doing so.
It can sometimes be difficult to identify TV Licensing goons, as they often refuse to show their ID and sometimes pretend they're from the gas board. If you're not sure what a TV Licensing goon looks like, please refer to our handy recognition guide. As mentioned earlier, these particular goons will probably have a Northern Irish accent.
If you suspect a visitor of being a TV Licensing goon, by far the safest option is to keep quiet and close the door. Do not engage with TV Licensing in any way. Saying nothing deprives TV Licensing of the information it needs to progress its "investigation" any further.
If you're feeling a bit more proactive you could record the visit on camera and upload the footage to YouTube.
Under no circumstances can a legally-licence-free person trust TV Licensing goons. They are only interested in bumping up their performance stats and commission earnings, be that by fair means or foul.

If anyone wants some entertainment they could ask the goons to show their work permits to prove they are a allowed to work on the Isle of Man. If they fail to do so a statement under caution could be taken and sent to the relevant authorities.
