An organisation as despicable as TV Licensing never misses an opportunity to capitalise on the misfortune of other people.
Today we have become aware of a new format of TV Licensing threatogram, which appears to gloat at those unfortunate souls previously convicted of TV licence evasion.
Of course, with hundreds of low-paid TV Licensing goons chasing generous uncapped commission payments, a significant proportion of those convicted never actually committed the heinous "crime" of unlicensed TV reception in the first place.
The full text of the new threatogram reads as follows:
_______________
Dear [Name],
Our records show that there is still no TV licence at this address.
You could be taken to court again if you are still watching or recording programmes as they are being shown on TV. This time, you may be ordered to pay a higher fine.
We would rather this did not happen, so we are giving you one more chance to buy a TV Licence.
How to buy a licence.
By buying a licence straight away, you can avoid further legal action. A colour TV Licence will cost £145.50. To pay in full or spread the cost with Direct Debit:
- Visit tvlicensing.co.uk/pay
- Call 0300 790 6121
You can also make weekly cash payments with a TV Licensing payment card. Call 0300 555 3456 to find out more.
Or, if you do not need a TV Licence anymore, please let us know at tvlicensing.co.uk/noTV or on 0300 790 6121.
Yours sincerely,

Bizarrely, for some inexplicable reason, TV Licensing has also sent these letters to people who have not previously been prosecuted, let alone convicted, for TV licence evasion.
A TV licence is only needed for those properties where equipment is used to receive TV programmes. Anyone who doesn't need a TV licence is advised to ignore TV Licensing completely.
Communicating with an organisation as ignorant and incompetent as TV
Licensing is totally futile, because it does not believe anyone claiming
not to need a TV licence.
TV Licensing cannot be trusted. Don't make the mistake of engaging with it.
