Why we're here:
This blog is to highlight the unjust persecution of legitimate non-TV users at the hands of TV Licensing. These people do not require a licence and are entitled to live without the unnecessary stress and inconvenience caused by TV Licensing's correspondence and employees.

If you use equipment to receive live broadcast TV programmes, or to watch or download BBC on-demand programmes via the iPlayer, then the law requires you to have a TV licence and we encourage you to buy one.

If you've just arrived here from a search engine, then you might find our Quick Guide helpful.

TV Detector Vans: Capita TV Licensing Employees Make Some Quick Cash

If there's one thing the BBC and TV Licensing love to do it is fill the public with fear about the accuracy of their database and effectiveness of their detection equipment.

It's something they like to say, but when challenged they never stump up any evidence that these tools of the trade actually work.

That's because they can't.

Unfortunately for TV Licensing there are an increasing number of people aggrieved by their sinister and deceitful tactics. These people like nothing better than to pore over TV Licensing propaganda picking holes in every dishonest sentence. Discrediting TV Licensing is as easy as shooting rats drowning in a barrel of piss. Quite an apt euphemism given some of the vermin on the TV Licensing payroll.

TJoKayaking, not his real name, over at YouTube is offering £1000 reward to anyone who can prove TV Licensing's detection equipment does actually work. His terms are as follows:
  • Video evidence is required to prove that the equipment works. This must be hosted on YouTube for everyone to scrutinise.
  • There are two calendar months (until 21 August 2012) for this video to be presented and the reward claimed.
If you're a disgruntled Capita TV Licensing employee, as we know there are hundreds, and you'd like to make a quick buck to help your reintegration into civilised society, then this is the challenge for you. Hell, we'll even forgive you for your immoral employment if you deliver the goods. In these times of austerity £1000 is a lot of money for someone who plays with little knobs in the back of a VW Transporter van on the minimum wage.

Let battle commence.

they sent one of these vans to my home - i caught them trying to film through my living room window - you can find the footage on youtube - a few weeks later they sent me a letter saying they had information that led them to believe i had a TV & that if i don't pay up they will apply to a magistrate for a search warrant to search my home - this seems to contradict there statement claiming to have information that iam am watching telly

We have seen a lot of videos of these vans, many of which have not been published on YouTube but sent to us by different means.

They often send a letter saying "we have detected you're using a TV, but are giving you one final chance to pay". We are aware of legitimate non-TV viewers who have received these letters, which illustrates the fact they are just another TV Licensing ploy to scare payment from people.

If you're really not watching TV then you don't need to worry at all. Ignore them.

Please can you give the link to your video, so we know which one it is.
