Why we're here:
This blog is to highlight the unjust persecution of legitimate non-TV users at the hands of TV Licensing. These people do not require a licence and are entitled to live without the unnecessary stress and inconvenience caused by TV Licensing's correspondence and employees.

If you use equipment to receive live broadcast TV programmes, or to watch or download BBC on-demand programmes via the iPlayer, then the law requires you to have a TV licence and we encourage you to buy one.

If you've just arrived here from a search engine, then you might find our Quick Guide helpful.

TV Licensing Encounter

Further intelligence on the enemy's operation is presented today, thanks to the magic of YouTube.

This jovial TV Licensing man operates in the Tyne & Wear area.

To his credit he acts in a perfectly polite and dignified manner, despite trying to incorrectly imply there was some law that requires non-viewers to prove their TV-free status. The householder, evidently a bit of a "Freeman of the Land" type person, then delves into semantics about how law is different to statute (which it isn't, actually).

I hope TV Licensing man's colleagues are taking note at the non-intimidatory way he conducts his business. Capita could even use this video for staff training purposes to show how someone with no legal rights at all should behave when visiting another's property.

TV Licensing man's smiley face will be displayed here in perpetuity.

To be honest Ray, given your prompt return to licensed status I doubt you gave TV Licensing enough time to set their spiral of threatening letters into motion.

As for how they select addresses to target, it works something like this:

- Built up area is favoured to rural area: TV Licensing salemen earn commission on every licence sold, so target densely populated areas.
- TV Licensing opponents get favourable treatment: Read our stories about Michael Shakespeare and "Pandora's Box" to see what I mean.

Make no mistake that TV Licensing are scum, who maximise their profits by targeting the vulnerable and infirm and telling lies along the way.

That filth were on to my address like a flash.

There was one threat letter then two Saturday morning visits consecutively within the first month.

About 6 months after that some goon turned up asking if I was Mr ******** (previous licence holder) so I knew it was a tvl pice of **** come to put the frighteners on.

I asked him several times who he was yet he didn't identify himself unless I opened the door as he didn't want to speak to me through partially opened net curtains. I swiftly told him if he doesn't identify himself he'll talk to nobody. Just as he said "TV Licence and went to produce his id card I shut the curtains leaving him stood there comissionless.
