TV Licence Dispensation for Funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

The BBC has granted a TV licence dispensation for coverage of the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral on the evening of Thursday, 8th September 2022. She was 96 years old. Whatever your opinions of the Monarchy and Royal Family, we must not forget that her family has lost a much loved mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

The dispensation is intended to allow the screening of the Queen's funeral in public venues that would not ordinarily be covered by a valid TV licence - places like village halls, community centres and churches. It will also cover anyone showing coverage to members of the public in an outdoor space.

The dispensation does not apply to those viewing in a private residence, which would still need to be covered by a valid TV licence.

Normal TV licence requirements resume at the end of the Queen's funeral on 19th September 2022.

  1. Still don't watch any TV, so dispensation affects me in no way whatsoever.

Glad to see you back again.
