TV Licensing Boss Gets Doorstepped

A prominent anti-TV Licensing campaigner has doorstepped its BBC boss.

Michael Shakespeare hand delivered a letter of complaint to the home of BBC Head of Revenue Management, Pipa Doubtfire, last Wednesday afternoon.

Michael, you might recall, was wrongly convicted of TV licence evasion in the most sinister of circumstances. His conviction was quashed on appeal with the Judge commenting that no reasonable tribunal of fact could ever accept the prosecution case, which was so implausible that TV Licensing's own witnesses contradicted it.

Having publicly humiliated TV Licensing in court, you would think the BBC's revenue generation bullies would give Michael a wide berth nowadays. On the contrary, TV Licensing continues to spitefully target an innocent man.

We surmise that Doubtfire, who earns almost £160k, doesn't have much time for people like Michael. That being the case, she has failed to respond to his entirely justified complaints.

He has told TV Licensing not to visit his property, but it insists it has the right to do so. Using the same logic, Michael decided he had the right to visit Doubtfire's home to personally drop off a letter. He had been told by the BBC that she works at home, so he reasoned that she would happily accept business correspondence there. She didn't answer the door, so he handed it to the person who did. He then left the property immediately - no dialogue, no confrontation - in stark contrast to the menacing behaviour, threats and lies exhibited by many TV Licensing goons.

It would appear that Doubtfire didn't appreciate Michael's personal touch. Running to the police with the speed and agility of a teenager fleeing Jimmy Savile's BBC dressing room, she complained that she had been harassed in her own home. Oh the irony.

Harassment, by legal definition, involves a course of action - a first-time, one-off visit to someone's home doesn't quite cut it. We're amused that the woman responsible for TV Licensing's doorstep thugs feels so aggrieved at receiving a letter far more benign than the average TV Licensing threatogram.

The police tried to serve Michael with a Police Information Notice, but he refused to accept it.

We'll bring you any developments as they happen.

Edit (17/5/18): We have corrected Pipa Doubtfire's salary details and tidied up the wording of this article.

Edit (27/5/18): It would appear that Doubtfire and/or the BBC has been incredibly busy trying to expunge her personal information, which she presumably provided freely at the time, from the web. We have been informed that articles featuring Doubtfire have been removed from the website of her local newspaper.

  1. "She didn't answer the door, so he handed it to the person who did"

To be fair, it was her child who answered the door.

It may have been better if Shakey had just walked at that point.

However, he does make a good point

    1. Her cleaner? So....even if it was her child, does handing a letter mean harassment, wouldn't that mean every postie or courier is guilty of harassment?

    2. So is her child exempt from taking in mail it’s happened to my daughter on number of occasions. What’s good for us is good for them

  2. Yes, I'm sure he had second thoughts at the time, but as he was there.
Let's not forget that children don't necessarily deter TV Licensing:

  3. Should put up her address so we can all hand deliver our own letters

  4. If a TFL goon turns up at your house and one of your children answer the door, to they go on their merry way? Nope - they begin questioning the child as to what programmes they watch at home and on what platform (Freeview, Virgin Media, Sky tv, Now TV. Then and only then do they ask to speak to an adult. He did right! What's good for the goose is good for the gander in this case!

  5. TV licensing & the BBC have dropped so low as regards respect from the public that I feel they should do more to reverse the situation than they are and certainly not react like prissy widowers.

  6. Fake news channel paedophile enabling corporation. If there was no licence then at least £200,000 saved with this fake woman wages.

  7. What a petty minded person she is. In my opinion the Licence fee should be scrapped. we are paying for the Tory propaganda machine.

  8. It's about time the licence fee was scrapped. Make the BBC self fund the constant repeats shown on the channel. If they want money, make the BBC pay per view the same as SKY tv.

  9. I don't know it matters whether or not a child answered the door - the principle still of "see what it's like to suffer this type of thing?" held good. Mr Shakespeare was hardly threatening, he merely handed in a letter which is perfectly acceptable behaviour in any context.

Hats off to Mr Shakespeare. Excellent persistence in a cause which has a wider public value than just one person's mistreatment by the BBC.

It would be good if others now followed suit. If other campaigners and people who have been harassed by the BBC's agents independently (that's important of course) decided to do the same thing as Mr Shakespeare. A stream of people turning up at the door of this person who bears a lot of responsibility for the BBC harassment might well do the trick - particularly if the press were involved each time...

  10. Not paid since 2010. Use Netflix and channel 4 catchup.

Hit the BBC in the pocket.
They DO NOT have any more legal rights then a citizen unless they are backed up by a court order and police presence to ensure things are done right.

  11. I had expected to PARODY a TYPICAL 'goon visit'...

"Hello.... Mrs Doubtfire..? I don't have a TV licence... could I come in to discuss this and perhaps you could help me. What!... you refuse me entry...how odd !. You refuse me entry into your HOME... a TOTAL STRANGER who will not identify himself....how odd !... What !... you feel uncomfortable that a TOTAL STRANGER knows your name and has disturbed you in the privacy of your OWN HOME when you are doing nothing illegal... how odd !.. What ! you no longer feel safe and secure in the one place in where you SHOULD feel safe and secure..? how odd ! I must say that I find your over-reaction to this situation most odd indeed...!"

I had not expected a young female child to open the door..(she should have been at school..?). confronted with this young female child and whereas I am NOT a full time BBC approved Paedo ... I just quickly handed her the letter and left.

I hope that Admin will give me the opportunity to write a 'guest-blog' in order to give my side of the story in full detail.
    Regards
    Shakey

  12. T.v license is a con you don't see them stopping the homeless that have mobile internet, they don't have one why so, why must the people in homes pay, it is a disgrace the price alone, there are enough bills we pay as home renters/owners. Gas, electric, water rates, council tax, when will the fat cats stop, where is the line drawn?

    ReplyDelete
  13. That's right they don't they sometimes barge in as the child enters the home or answers the door. Last time a goon tried that with me was nearly 18 months ago when they made out he was scared of the dog but wanted to follow inside, my anger went into overdrive, pulling him back with such force I didn't know I had he claimed assault but the police did nothing and I have heard nothing more.

  14. The BBC keep saying that they are a public organisation!!! So I see no arm in going to her house if she works from home??? Has her employees do the same I see nothing wrong with it !!! And has the police have seen it in there remit to interfere perhaps they have a lot of time on there hands ?????

  15. Seems to be 1 law for us peasants over unwanted callers and another for the BBC elites

  16. I think he's within his rights, why should the BBC hold the public to ransome over TV licensing when all they are is a propaganda platform for the tories

    1. OMG - they are not. They are the biggest bunch of lefties in Britain - this is not something you can lay at the feet of the Tories. There are more marxists in the BBC than in the Kremlin

  17. Yes, Mrs Doubtfire - honestly that's her name.

As for the suggestion about her address: Michael said he found that in the public domain. In the past 24 hours efforts have been made to expunge that public information at source.

A clear case of closing the stable door after the horse has bolted.

  19. I'm very proud that I won't ever watch the BBC ever ... it's an extorsion racket as far as I'm concerned .. I get letters around 2 times a month reminding me to pay for a tv licence but why on earth should I pay for one when I'm so against watching that rubbish ... they don't do adds but a friend of mine told me they do an add when it suits them ... like the British Muslim one ??? I mean they don't do them but don't mind adding a one for a backward religion ... well why don't they do adverts instead of taking poor people's money ... simple solution but means a little work needs done ... same as the lotto .. haven't put that on in years . . costs so much to put on now and it's really just an extra tax on the poor if honest ... it all needs stopped but I won't expect it in my lifetime ... the whole country is run by ponces and brainless fools

  20. I agree let's scrap tv licencing there all in it for themselves these days .We are feeding the fat cats and if we refuse we get threatened there like bully's in the playground just well out of order it's about time the BBC stood on there own feet .

  21. If its commercial television that you would watch in preference to stodgy BBC be careful of what you wish.

  22. Maybe she'll send Shakey a WOIRA, which would be ironic as the BBC no longer recognizes the right of Scots to keep unwanted visitors away from their front doors.

  23. "She complained that she had been harassed in her own home"

The boundaries of hypocrisy have been extended by a country mile.

  24. BBC TV Licensing sends out nearly 30 million threatograms per year.
BBC TV Licensing is responsible for 4 million clown-goon doorstep visits per year.
TV encryption technology that would allow the BBC to raise revenue without threatograms and clown-goons has existed since at least the 1980's so we have to assume that the present system is that desired by the BBC

Fortunately, the TV Licence system is on its way out - for instance in Scotland the authorities only prosecute a handful of so-called evaders per year. In England and Wales, people are less willing to sign the TVL 178 self-incrimination form, which means less commission for clown-goons. The TV Licence system is on its last legs.

  25. Ms Doubtfire would appear to be a very busy person. On top of being Head of Revenue Management for the BBC, she is a director of DHSH Ltd, based at the BBC's offices in London (what used to be called "White City"):

  26. If a child is old enough to answer the door, it is old enough to take delivery of a letter.

If Mrs Doubtfire does NOT teach her children to not answer the door, then she obviously allows them to do so.

I am sick of the 3 years of harassment of unwanted license goons and monthly letters..time to give a little back.

  27. Anonymous, don't worry about the letters, even the ones apparently threatening court action or giving a date when they'll visit - they're computer generated and don't mean anything - basically you're being threatened by a computer database. I just stick mine in the recycling bin (after tearing the address out).

As for the BBC clown goons, they eventually lose interest when they realize no commission is on offer. I haven't been visited for many years now.

  28. What a disgrace that the police should attempt to issue a Police Information Notice, instruments discredited by the 'Commons Home Affairs Committee and HMIC. I am pleased and impressed that Michael refused it.

It is a pity the police cannot find something better to do with their time.

  29. I had one call at my door the other month my late wife used to pay the fee after various letters saying they were taken her to court a knock at the door
I told him I only stream and don't watch BBC so no licence is needed and he was welcome to check (I have them deleted off channel list 》《《I haven't heard back since.

  30. The "news" is Tory propaganda. Every time the BBC tries to report honestly on the Tories, the fascists threaten them.

As for comedy shows - those comedians are mainly left wing, because, let's face it, the very few right wing comedians there are are bitter, hateful, and unfunny.

  31. You realise the BBC Chairman, Richard Sharpe, is a Tory Donor?

His chairmanship was pushed through by the Tories after their first choice (Charles Moore) backed down.

You also have Robbie Gibb, Boris Johnson supporter, pushed into a role as a board member by Johnson. He was previously Theresa May’s director of communications and who also helped set up right-wing channel GB News.

    This is all public record.

Of course they are biased towards the Tories. Or do you think the tories pushed "lefties" into the job? Sigh.
