BBC Presenter Dave Lee Travis Convicted of Indecent Assault

BBC radio and television presenter Dave Lee Travis has been convicted of indecently assaulting a researcher during the filming of a 1995 comedy show.

The 69-year-old pervert, real name David Griffin, was appearing as a guest on the BBC's Mrs Murton Show when he decided to pin the young lady against a wall and grope her breasts.

The jury at Southwark Crown Court convicted him by a majority verdict of 10-2.

Griffin was cleared of a further count of sexually assaulting another woman during a 1990 production of Aladdin. The ex-Radio 1 DJ had been cleared of 12 counts of indecent assault back in February.

Prosecutors described Griffin as an "opportunist" and said his "charming and cuddly" persona was no defence for his actions.

Sophie Wood, defending, told the judge she would "seek to persuade" him that Griffin should be given a non-custodial community order sentence.

Judge Anthony Leonard QC told the former Top of the Pops presenter: "You must understand that all my options remain open in relation to sentencing."

Sentencing will take place on Friday.

Edit (26/9/14): Griffin was sentenced to 3 months imprisonment, suspended for 2 years. Leaving the court, the shameless pervert said: "With millions of pounds of taxpayers' money, thousands of hours of police resources, the judge accepted today that the Crown had failed to prove their case against me - namely that I was a sexual predator."

Maybe the court hasn't ruled on the habitual nature of Griffin's crimes, but there's no doubt in our minds about the misdemeanours of this disgusting low-life.
