Why we're here:
This blog is to highlight the unjust persecution of legitimate non-TV users at the hands of TV Licensing. These people do not require a licence and are entitled to live without the unnecessary stress and inconvenience caused by TV Licensing's correspondence and employees.

If you use equipment to receive live broadcast TV programmes, or to watch or download BBC on-demand programmes via the iPlayer, then the law requires you to have a TV licence and we encourage you to buy one.

If you've just arrived here from a search engine, then you might find our Quick Guide helpful.

TV Licensing Targets Those Previously Convicted of TV Licence Evasion

It is the first time we have come across this particular TV Licensing threatogram, which is destined for those previously convicted of TV licence evasion.

An example of this letter was recently posted on the TV Licence Resistance forums.

The letter reads as follows:
________
You could be prosecuted again unless you buy a TV Licence immediately

Dear [Name],

Our records show that there is still no TV Licence at this address.

You could be prosecuted again if an Officer finds you are still watching or recording live programmes, or downloading or watching BBC programmes on iPlayer, without a valid TV Licence. This time you may be ordered to pay a higher fine.

We would rather this did not happen, so you need to buy a TV Licence immediately.

Buy a licence now or you risk prosecution.

You can pay the fee of £145.50 all in one go or set up a Direct Debit to pay it off in smaller amounts.

Visit tvlicensing.co.uk/pay          Call 0300 790 6048

Or you can make weekly cash payments at any PayPoint using a TV Licensing payment card. Call us on 0300 555 3456 to apply for yours.

If you don't need a TV Licence any more, please let us know at tvlicensing.co.uk/noTV or on 0300 790 6048. We may confirm this with a visit.

If you have any questions, please call 0300 790 6048.

Yours sincerely,

TV Licensing Prosecutions Manager
________
In our opinion a sizeable proportion of people convicted of TV licence evasion probably never committed the offence in the first place. TV Licensing exploits that fact that very few people will challenge its prosecution evidence, which is often seriously flawed or even non-existent. TV Licensing would have a much lower conviction rate if the thousands of people it wrongly accuses attended court and mounted a defence.

Anyone receiving a letter like this should file it where it belongs with the contempt it deserves.

Yes Ray, some people do. Not nearly as many as TV Licensing claim to.

Ray turner, the system has been cheating us the tax payer for decades. BBC run by elites for the benefit of elites & their propaganda.

our tax moneys exploited by a few over rated so called entertainers, who obw before the usual mantras, & do the will of the elite in mugging off the hard working over taxed little people.

And yes, the TV licence is just that, another unfair tax on the people of this nation.

Why should we pay this unfair tax to watch propaganda spewed out by pedophile covering scum? I moved out my mam and dads 30 year ago and have only maybe paid the tax for no longer than 3 years and I certainly regret even paying that! Only way I was done was because at the time I didn't know the facts and was caught out twice. First time £80 fine, second time a sob story ended up with no fine LOL

I established this fact many years ago during visits to the sausage factory magaistarates's courts. The number of previous convictions being mentioned at sentencing proved that the scum were making repeat visits up to 7 times.

The BBC is only interested in money. They don't care if they intimidate vulnerable people with their letters and goon-visits. It's also clear that they target addresses that are likely to give them 'easy pickings'.
