This blog is to highlight the unjust persecution of legitimate non-TV users at the hands of TV Licensing. These people do not require a licence and are entitled to live without the unnecessary stress and inconvenience caused by TV Licensing's correspondence and employees.

If you use equipment to receive live broadcast TV programmes, or to watch or download BBC on-demand programmes via the iPlayer, then the law requires you to have a TV licence and we encourage you to buy one.

BBC Thug Admits Punching Love Rival

A BBC Radio 1 presenter has pleaded guilty to punching a love rival.

Jericho Keys, 26, faces dismissal after admitting the unprovoked attack on Robert Major during a gig at the Nevermind nightclub in York.

Leeds Magistrates' heard how Mr Major had previously been in a relationship with Keys' girlfriend, Lucy Bellerby. He was working as a DJ at the club when he was approached by Keys during the early hours of 20th December 2015.

Prosecutor Kim Coley told the court that Keys punched Mr Major around the head with his two clenched fists, which resulted in bleeding and swelling to his face.

Keys, who also works as a presenter on BBC Radio York, was detained by door staff until the arrival of the police. He was arrested and admitted the offence, saying that Mr Major had been provoking him for weeks.

Keys is currently suspended from his employment with the BBC.

Chairman of the Bench, Richard Goodacre told Keys: "This was an unprovoked assault on an innocent person going about their lawful business and, no doubt, caused him distress."

Keys was fined £115, with £85 costs and £20 victim surcharge. He was also ordered to pay Mr Major £100 in compensation.

A BBC spokesman said: "It was made clear in court that Jericho is very remorseful about what happened. He remains suspended and we will discuss his future with him in due course."
